About Ocalt

A South African technology and engineering company building what the industry has convinced itself is already built.

Who we are

Ocalt (Pty) Ltd is a South African technology and engineering company. We build software, platforms, AI systems, hardware, and original research under a single conviction: Engineering Magic. Every product we ship is an expression of that standard.

Our mission

To show the world how little we have actually innovated. The industry has been told it is near the top of the mountain. We believe it is still at the foothills. Our job is to build the climb.

We build for Africa first, and for the world by consequence.

The name

Ocalt comes from the Latin occultum, meaning hidden or not yet revealed. The most powerful ideas in engineering are not missing. They are obscured. Our work is to find them and bring them out.

The Ocaltsmith

Every engineer at Ocalt carries the title of Ocaltsmith. It is a designation, not a job title. An Ocaltsmith does not ship mediocre work. They build systems that feel inevitable in hindsight and impossible in conception. Engineering at Ocalt is an identity, not a function.

Ecosystem

Ocalt operates eleven products across software, platforms, AI, hardware, and research. The full list and details live on their respective pages. See the full sitemap.

Research

Ocalt pursues original research in computer architecture, novel computation models, and AI architectures. Research work lives at research.ocalt.com. Source code for research prototypes is at github.com/Ocalt.
