Pinstant

Overview

Pinstant captures what you copy, text, images, videos and files, into your private Ocalt namespace and makes it available on every device from a single floating pin.

There is no extra app and no separate login. It lives inside the OcaltQL Client and every Ocalt surface you already use.

What it is

A pinboard shared by every machine on your account. The OcaltQL Client watches each machine's clipboard; what you copy is stored as a real file in your namespace, and the pinboard lists it, newest first, wherever you are signed in.

How it works

1. Copy on any machine. The OcaltQL Client watches the system clipboard. On a successful copy, the content is written under /root/pinstant/ or /mounted/pinstant/.
2. Open the floating pin. A pin sits on every Ocalt surface. Click it for the full timeline, newest first, with preview, copy, edit and delete.
3. Paste where you need it. Copying from the board carries an origin marker, so the watcher never pins it twice. Paste on any device in the fleet.

What you can pin

Devices

• Truly cross-device: Windows, Linux, macOS and Android, anything that runs the OcaltQL Client, mixed fleets included.
• Mute a machine to stop capture from it without removing it from the fleet.
• Offline first: a machine captures locally while the Client is offline and syncs when it reconnects.
• Add a device by installing the OcaltQL Client on it and signing it in with your Ocalt Client key.

Storage and control

Pins are saved in your private namespace, not a temporary cloud cache. The free tier uses root storage; paid plans can use mounted storage. Delete anything, keep everything, or set limits.

Getting started

1. Sign in at pinstant.ocalt.com with your Ocalt account, or create one.
2. Install the OcaltQL Client on each machine you want on the board, from client.ocalt.com.
3. Copy something on one machine and open the pin on another.
