Create a Vast Drive

Pool several drives into one encrypted drive with their combined space.

Open Ocaltio

Before you start

  • At least one drive added in Ocaltio.

Steps

  1. In the side panel, click New Vast Drive….
  2. Type a Name (for example Personal pool or Media archive) and click Continue.
  3. Under Choose backends, tick every drive that should give space to the pool.
  4. Click Continue. The Confirm step shows Combined capacity and the Included drives.
  5. Click Create Vast Drive. The Vast Drive opens.

What happens next

Each file you put in the Vast Drive is encrypted and stored whole on one of its drives, on the one with the most free space.

Good to know

  • To change which drives are in it, right-click the Vast Drive in the side panel and choose Edit pool….
  • To add one drive to an existing pool, right-click that drive and choose Add to Vast Drive….
