Create a mesh and share a port

Link your machines so they talk directly, share ports and copy files peer to peer.

Open Fabric

Steps

  1. Click Mesh Network in the side menu, then + New mesh.
  2. Type a Mesh name (for example home-lab), tick the Members, and click Create mesh.
  3. To share a port, open the mesh and click Share port. Choose Share from machine, To peer, the Port on that machine and the port it should Appear on peers as localhost:. Click Share port.
  4. To copy a file, click Transfer file. Fill in From machine, Path on source, To machine and Path on destination, then click Start transfer.

What happens next

A shared port is not public. Only mesh members reach it, on their own localhost.

Good to know

  • Transfers go machine to machine. The bytes never land on Ocalt.
