Get FTP or SFTP access to a folder, in your namespace or on a machine
Make a login for FileZilla, WinSCP, sftp or scp that only sees one folder.
Open FabricSteps
- Click Websites & Hosting in the side menu, then Mint FTP grant at the top.
- Under Where the folder is, choose Your namespace or one of your machines. Then choose the Folder the login may see (under /root or /mounted, or for example C:\SERVERS\mysite on a machine) and type a Label so you know what it is for.
- Click Mint credentials.
- The box FTP credentials (save now) shows the user, password and path. Copy the password now. It is not shown again.
- In your app, connect to ftp.ocalt.com. Use port 21 for FTP or FTPS, or port 2022 for SFTP. From a terminal: sftp -P 2022 followed by your user and @ftp.ocalt.com.
Good to know
- The login cannot see anything above its folder.
- Revoking the grant drops connected sessions at once.
- A folder on a machine is read and written on the machine itself, so nothing is copied and nothing goes out of date. The machine must be online, and each FTP action uses queries on your account like any other script.
- On a site whose root is on a machine, Deploy & FTP and then Mint FTP grant fills in that machine and folder for you.
